I wasn't particularly excited by it being a cupholder, more to do with replacing the plastic hinge thing.

Didn't want to replace it with another plastic hinge that would eventually break anyhow.

I tried the piano hinge trick, but was trying to avoid ruining the cover, and it doesn't seem to hold together as well as I would like.

If I had more time on my hands I would look to see whats involved in reproducing the plastic hinge in metal. No-one seems to have come up with that idea yet.
