Nice red leather. I had an E46 black with red. What I hate is the woodgrain. I am putting a real CF shifter in from a Euro E38 this week and I am thinking about making a CF interior setup.

How come you didn't like the woodgrain? Is there a problem with them or is it just a personal preference?

I just HATE woodgrain. I am 25 not 65. Actually it is not so bad but BMW has gone nuts with it. To get a premium package you have to get woodgrain. OR they can delete it for a charge. Can you believe that. I had it delted from my E46 and went with a CF package. It took 8 weeks longer to get the car because that was considered custom. The downside to the CF for the E34 is I have only seen overlays and it seems silly to cover the woodgrain with CF covers.

obviuously, they do woodgrain because of the market segment they target. easy to see that the older people who have money don't care for CF. in the end, they are in business to sell cars and make cash money. i have friend who got an e46 (325ci) and opted with silver interior pieces, it looked ok, modern, etc.

This may be true but the market segment that buys E46 3 series is not that interested in woodgrain. Save that for the E39 5's and new 7's. Actually most of the E36s I see are base models unless they are driven by younger clientel. This says to me that the premium package doesnt appeal to either demographic, or that older buyers arent interested (for the most part) in the "up" models. Remember you can have a base E36 for 325/mo on a BMW lease. IIRC mine cost about 34K used and it was a CPO 330CI, new it would have been in the 40-45K range. There is a large range of pricing on their models.

Not that it matters but the above reason is the same reason that Cadi's not come with gold trim, chrome wheels, and vogue tires. They have captured a certain demographic.

i should re-phrase that, "i have friend who got an e46 (325ci) and opted for the 'non-standard' silver interior pieces" standard is black... this car was a 2002 with 9500 miles and was purchased for 25k (private owner).

damn, that's a lot of cash for a 330, the last time i checked the 330ix was in that 40-45K range range with the "premium" options. hmm..

Mine was a sport/premium CI with 6-speed, Xenon lights, CF Interior with special order Red leather interior. The standard black trim is nice, I like it, I even like the silver. The price difference can be attributed to the CPO and purchase from a dealer. Car was purchased in 2001 with less than 8K on it. If your friend is a good friend he will tell you how hard it is to find a Coupe with a manual transmission, never mind the red leather. It was a lot of money, but it was really nice. I actually made a little money when I sold it. The invoice says 31985.00 Dont know why I thought it was 34.

Like E46 M3...very nice. I would want Imola Red though. I even contemplated an M coupe before I bought the 951.

I like the woodgrain in the 5 series and wouldn't mind having it in my 525. I guess I see too much CF in ricers and makes me biased against it.

the wood trim looks good, remember that a 525 is a family car not a race car... why would you put carbon fiber on it?
