924S Alternator Upgrade
Hey folks....just joining this forum after having been a member of the 928 community. I have a recently acquired 1987 924S that I am planning to play with so I'll be reaching out to you a lot in the near future.
I'm currently having my alternator rebuilt. It's a Bosch 90 amp unit. Has anyone been able to upgrade the amperage output when rebuilding this unit? My service provider told me he can't get any parts from Bosch in order to be able to do this. Anyone have a success story?

Usually the next step is the 115A alternator that fits the early 944 to '85.
Search for a Bosch AL29X with the amp rating needed----like this one (175A)

GL with the 924S

Bosch AL29X is the body style that will fit----amp rating is done internally.
Both my 924Ss have the 90 amp. AC is the only draw above base.
The cars wiring and connections due to age may have increased resistance I may go to a 115A alternator in the future.
