Rebuild tranny on '91 944S2?
On my 944S2 with 154,000 miles on it, unless I shift very slowly (pull out of 1st to neutral, wait, put into 2nd) it's difficult to get in to 2nd gear without grinding 2nd. Double clutching works, though. For shifting from 2nd to 2rd, it's easier but frequently feels like a there's a soft 'catch' when being engaged.
Nobody in my area rebuilds Porsche transmissions. What process should I follow to pursue fixing this? Order syncros from Paragon and then carefully take apart the tranny to see what all needs replaced?
thanks,
Bryan

I have done this on my '86 na, which I assume is similar. Unfortunately the 2nd gear synchro is almost the most difficult thing to replace in this trans. You need a good press(~10 ton), some tooling or other means to support the gears as you press them off, and some good measurement capability to get things back together correctly.
One thing I investigated was sending just the pinion shaft to someone to do the work on that. I ended up doing it myself, but you might pursue that as a way to save labor costs. The manual has the specs for installing the synchro with the correct amount of endplay, and I think you can buy a shim assortmrnt from dealers.
Have fun,
