Cool Enough of Mr Nice Guy

Well, I had an axperience with a '65 Chevelle and a late 90's Vette. I have been only running 9 psi to work out the car. It's done. We entered the freeway in a spirited fashion. The chevelle lept early but was not going anywhere when the vette came on me like I was standing still. I waved him by and we were both on the Chevelle at the end of 3rd gear. I don't know if the vette was modified, but the Chevelle driver and I cheatted at the next exit ramp. He had it in the floor the whole way. (3.73 gears)

I hate MS explorer on this web site!!

I made a new friend with an old muscle car. (I use to be into my '68 Z28.) We chatted about the old cars and I inroduced him to my "old" car. I think he will begin to pay more attention to the 4 bangers!

Seriously, don't flame me, it was a spirited entrance to the freeway, that's it!

To be honest, I have no idea. The car has various go fast goodies that the PO put on and never sorted out. The cam is definitely aftermarket, the chips are APE, but I don't have the problems other 'listers describe. He had indicated they were custom made. The car came with a test pipe, but I sold back the PO for his other car. (I have to pass emissions.)

When I started up the ramp I did raise the RPM's to 2k before letting out the clutch. I had been very careful about the drivetrain. The back tires broke loose, which I did not expect. I don't like the idea of dumping the clutch, so that was the only rubber I caught. I just wound out 3 gears.

I chatted with the guy in the Chevelle. He had a 327 with a few items on it. He upgraded the carb, intake and a cam. The transmission was a powerglide. (great for drag racing, but lousy on the street.)

After thinking about it the vette was back a fair distance and then shot up on us. He appeared surprised to be on us like that. I think he may have been using NOs.
