Default 968 Caster Sleeve removal?

I'm usually searching to find all of my answers, but thought I'd run this buy you guys since I came up empty.

I purchased PowerFlex (PFF57-203) caster bushings. It looks and feels like this will be a VERY tight fit, unless I remove the inner sleeve (shown). Is this necessary to do, or should I be pressing this out? Thanks.

Some bushes have a metal outer sleeve which will always need to be removed. Push or burn out the old rubber, the outer sleeve is then clear to see (top left picture), then cut the metal outer sleeve along its length with a hacksaw. Cut until the saw blade becomes tight. This means you have cut through the outer sleeve and the tension has clamped the blade.

Thank you. I did read see that, but wanted clarification as the pics in that DIY don't refer to the caster block.

Key phrase: 'Some bushes have a metal outer sleeve which will always need to be removed', will be adhered to.

Thanks!

I clamped it in a large vise and used a sawzall to make the initial cut, then went to a hacksaw. I am a big fan of a sawzall for saving a ton of time cutting.

Good luck!
