No spark no fuel question
I have just installed my rebuilt engine into my S2 and can't get it to start. The fuel pump is providing fuel to the fuel rail, but the injectors and spark plugs aren't firing. I'm not getting any tach bounce either.
It sounds like a Reference Sensor fault (perhaps incorrectly gapped or bad wiring), but I thought that I would still get injectors firing in this case.
If the Reference Sensor is bad, does it prevent the injectors opening as well as spark?

Fixed. It seems that the starter wasn't getting to critical speed for the DME to fire the injectors and plugs. I suspect the starter was a little overheated too after priming the oil pressure. Once I added a booster battery it fired right up.
Thanks for the clarification though - I think you are right. Also I think you need at least 200 rpm for the DME to start.

Not yet Mike. I have a spare head now and am looking to rebuild it with custom cams. I also have larger injectors to put in as well as the MAF conversion to finish.
