Default Local Cincinnati guys, suggestions for tire shops??

I had a good connection that is no longer at the shop I worked at, they had a good Hunter tire machine that they let me use. I no longer can use it due to new management. I just had these wheels painted about a month ago and feel comfortable with mounting them myself, but don't want a shop to screw them up. Any suggestions? TIA

Gonna be tough to find someone that will let you do it... liability.

Bill @ Performance Alignment is a solid and careful guy. May wanna see what he charges for a mount and strobe balance. I had mine mounted at the local Firestone, and they happened to let me help (since 3 guys had a hard time getting the 2nd bead over the rim).

Don't have any suggestions for you Andy. Gonna be a real trick to find someone to let you do that.

But, while we're on the subject, any of you have a suggestion for a place to do a reasonably priced alignment?

Had mind done at the Porsche dealer last time $$$$$$$, but it got screwed up 2 days later on US 50. Semi, and pothole in the path made for a bad combo.

Thanks!

I can't say enough about Bill at Performance Alignment. $200, takes about 3 hours, but it is oh so nice. He ususally has a back log of about 1 month, so add that in your plans.

Firestone eh?
Funny that. They had a special a few years back, that my dad bought for our Aerostar van. Lifetime alignments for something like $90.
What a good deal. He still takes it back every once in a while to get it aligned. Couldn't beat the price (at least if they do a halfway decent job).

I'll have to keep performance alignment in mind. I just hate the fact that I spent a little more than that much already to get the car aligned, and the money was just wasted after two days of driving.. Arrrgh.

Thanks!

I'll second the vote for Bill. If you want to drive a bit you can go to the Wheel Source in Dayton. They have some very nice mounting equipment. I bought 2 sets of their 18" 3 pc. wheels mounted with Hoosiers and the wheels were perfect. Not a single mark. The Wheel Source also has a van making a trip to Cincy once or twice a week. They will pcik up and deliver.

Wheel Source in Dayton is who I had used in the past, but they are no longer in business. I think they have a website where they still sell things, but no more service stuff. Looks like I'll be using Bill in the future.

Thanks guys, I think this lil ghetto shop up the road from me might be an option. If I flip them a twenty, I may be able to do it myself. I wish I had the equipment, not to brag, but, I AM the shiznick on tire work. I had a guy that only dealt with me for tire work on his cars, 64 Ferrari 250GTE, 34 Alfa Romeo, 36 Alfa Romeo, 72? Dino Ferrari, and a Bertone Fiat. All are in original condition, all are driven and he concourses some of them too. I balanced the wire wheel cars with lead soldering wire at his request, did tube work and used powder for the tubes. I learned alot from him, wish I was still in contact with him, I'd ask him who he uses now. I take pride in my work, my name is on it and I try to keep my name good. I wish I could say the same for the dumb asses that killed my mom's Fuchs on her 84. Who the hell uses a steele screwdriver to peel wieghts off of a polished wheel or on a Porsche wheel??

BTW, his Alfa was the sh*t, straight eight, two four cyl blocks back to back with the timing chain in the center, double OHC, and SUPERCHARGED too! Not too bad for that old of a car, 1934. He said it was appraised at 1.3 million dollars. He also had a well documented history of the car, from memory... some where it was taken by the ***** and stolen from the ***** and exported to the Netherlands for some prince and so on, I wish I remembered the whole deal. Still has the original paint! I'll try to get a pic posted. The thing is, he trusted ME (some 19yr old kidat the time) to work on the cars. That meant alot to me, and still does!
