944 road trip- can I make it?

You're going to be fine given the work you've already done. I would still tranny-flush and take vital fluids, relays, socket set, screw drivers, floor jack, and extra reference sensors if you happen to have any if not, they'll hopefully act sketchy before they completely fail.
The advice in this thread is on-point. I've had my car for 5 months and have had to use all of these...

Should I go ahead and change the transmission filter too? As long as it doesn't require taking the tranny out or apart, I guess I should replace it.
Thanks for all the advice! It's much appreciated!

I've put 250,000 miles on a 944 that I bought new. It only left me stranded without warning once when the side plate on a rebuilt trans fell off (incompetent rebuild). It left me stranded, sort of, preceded by a warning I didn't understand when a pinion tooth fell off with the original trans and ripped the center out of the clutch, and it blew a radiator hose twice. I took it, with wife and two kids on several 5,000 mile vacations without any problems.
I wouldn't worry about it.
by the way, my 356 that I put about half a million miles on left me stranded once when the differential carrier fractured, and once when the rear drum separated from the axle.

I also agree with advice provided here. At the risk of jinxing myself, I've made a number 400ish mile trips with great success in my car. I also do upwards of 60 miles a week with school and work combined. The old beast never skips a beat!
Also, to make you feel better, not all 5-speeds are created equal. The ones on these S cars also have you turning 4k at 80mph.

I've made 3 trips of 3500 miles between Albuquerque and Chicago, and ABQ and eastern Kentucky. I make it a point when crossing Kansas and Missouri to take US highways that are much worse in terms of services than the interstates, and never had a problem. But I don't go 75, and if I were turning 4k RPM at 75 I damn sure wouldn't. Speed limits on the US highways are more like 65, and the roads in KS are better than the interstates. Much more scenic too. Where exactly you heading? I see you're in Lawrence, I usually take US 56 just south of you.
