Default Did I find a giant power steering leak?

On a 944, at the steering rack, I pulled one of the boots and a puddle of atf poured out. Does this mean it's a bad rack?

Can someone please confirm that the boot should not carry any atf? I've always thought that boots protect from debris, but are not intended as a seal.

Thanks a lot.

Ok thanks. I'll just rebuild it. It's just one of those things that needs to be done once in a while. Will the steering need to be re-aligned after?

Thanks again and happy halloween.

I see your cross posting lol. As John_AZ suggested I'd get a rebuilt rack. May need an alignment

And Gawernator, I see you are scouring the web for 944 posts.
Ok, thanks you guys. I am now considering a rebuilt rack @ $200. Duralast from autozone.

I would hit up Tim Comeau @ Comeau racing. I got a rebuilt rack from him, and it's the ****.

Just did mine a month or two ago, got my rebuilt rack from Zim's. Also replaced lines and reservoir while I was at it.
