Default Replaced my electric seat adjuster today

Took about 2 hours.

The front up-down switch. Got my replacement from eBay new in original box – Part Werks of Chicago and although they originally wanted $105.65 for shipping to the UK we did get that sorted – mine was the only bid – thanks guys for not bidding against me - I got it for $45.95 plus $8.50 shipping. Can’t get these in UK so I was delighted at that price.

Fitting was straightforward – well almost. My ¼ inch ratchet went into undo-only-mode –crap Halfords ‘own label’ rubbish. Buy GOOD tools and use them for life – not crap stuff that breaks when you need them. The seat came out OK and I just replaced the wires as they were already fitted.

And saved a fortune on paying to have it done for me in a shop at mega money. Don’t be afraid of having a go – at worst you’ll break it and at best you’ll save a fortune.

For the first time since buying this car from my son I’m sitting REALLY comfortably. I thought the S2 seats were good before but now they’re fabulous.

these seats are amazing. we routinely do 6-8 hours in our 951 from DC to just west of Cincinatti and back and are NEVER fatigued. i'm always happy when we get to do the long road trip - the seating is never an issue!! what a great design...

Hi Kris,
Part Werks of Chicago 800-366-9147 or in Illinois 815-462-3000
Or their site is at partwerks9@aol.com
I believe this is a stock item with them - you'll have to check.
Mine was the front up-down switch.

Hi Bruce, from your description, I assume you replaced a 2-way switch in your S2 seat. My 951 has 4-way power switches, and literally put me "in a bind" when I could not slide the seat bench backwards anymore, forcing me to drive in a more cramped position than I'd like.

The worst part about it was that the seat was too far forward to access the front allen bolts to remove the seat and replace the switch. Luckily, whoever designed those Recaro seats put some holes on top of the seat rails and I was able to get to the bolts by sliding the seat still farther forward. It was tough, but I was able to do it by sliding my hand under the seat and using a 6mm allen 1/4 socket with my bare fingers.

The wiring for 4-way seating is a bit more elaborate and the darned switch cost me around €66 including the 16% VAT tax after my Porsche Club 20% discount. Not cheap. Unfortunately, these 4-way seats have no manual option, so you must replace the switch.

Glad yours is back to normal again as well. I was really fed up with that switch.

In case anyone needs to look for these switches, here are the PNs:

Bench forward-backward/Bench up-down front: 928.613.182.00
Backrest tilt/Bench up-down rear: 928.613.183.00

You said it was not much of a problem replacing?I think I will try myself as well.

Good luck.
You'll need nimble fingers and it's a good idea to tape the original wiring to the new harness (that comes with the switch) and pull it throught the hole as you withdraw the old switch. Feeding it back can be a bit of a bugger otherwise.
Bruce.
