Default 4x6 Speakers that fit under stock grills

It doesn't look like the search function is working on the new forums yet.

I need to buy some new door speakers for my '88 today. I've gotta drive 600 miles this weekend and I must have tunes. I drove 600 miles this past weekend w/o any entertainment and just about went nuts.

If any of you have any recommendations and a model # I will go buy them today if I can find them lcoally.

Thanks,

i put alpines in my car. had to get the grills off the $30 radio shack speaker set.

try radio shack, get the $30 speakers, and use the grills when you upgrade.

got the seat working. bypassed the memory board. Jim at 928intl helped a lot. all that crap under the seat is for the memory. just had to add a power lead to each switch, and run the switches to the motor. sounds easy doesnt it? took my electrical genius friend an hour to figure out the switch. i used the board for the motors in the seatback. am changing that tonight when i go directly to the loom for that! thanks again.

Tom.. I did the same with my Polk 4" component set and the Radio Shack grilles. Glue on your emblem and you are all set.

I did not try my 4X6 plates up front. I know they will fit, but not sure about the grilles.

I used Kicker 4"x 6" speakers, used the stock grill too. Didn't use the mounting plate that came with the speakers though, just the thin metal spacer.

Grab them Blaupunkt suckers, the shallower ones. They just pop in, I'm told. $40 at Crutchfield.

Great, I picked up a pair of radio shack units today for $12. They're serve temp duty and I'll try to source a set of those kickers. The Radio Shack speakers didn't come with any grills and they didn't have any for sale either.
