Anyone speak German?
Don't know how, but I ended up at this german site with what appears to be a comparison of the 944 to the new FRS/BRZ right before it came out. Would like to know what it says and what they think. I guess the FRS is the modern day equivalent of the 944. I test drove an FRS and couldn't fit in it comfortably. Was nice and quick and sporty, but its for midgets....

I'm surprised the 0-60 times are so similar, I think the article indicates that the extra low-end torque of the 944 makes a big difference. The 86 having its torque peak at 6000 rpm is pretty damning.

The GT86 is a fair bit quicker than the RoW 944 n/a they are comparing. I shared a track with 2 GT86's in early August. One had TRD suspension, exhaust and wheels and good semi slicks, the other was stock. The circuit was 3.3km and my best lap ('86 RoW n/a, 944max chip) for the day was 2:08.40. The stock GT86 did 1:56.56 and the modded GT86 did 01:57.12. The driver of the stock '86 is a very good, experienced driver. The other guy, not so much. Everyone laments them for not being fast but pedalled well they are still very quick, and these guys had a ball too. (there was more than a few moments of oversteer!)
There were no n/a cars that were faster than them that didn't have a V8 in it or a GT3 emblem on the bootlid.
