Post Port & Polish, Worth the $$$ ???

Now that it looks like I have to take the head off my S2 to get the #4 plug helicoiled I will also redo the valves while I'm there since there is 135,000 miles on it. I will probally put in the Web cam I have been drooling over also. But I am not sure if a Port & Polish job is worth the $$$ while its apart. How about some opinions and experiences on this. THANKS

Are you going to do it yourself or have it done? Also, are you ever contemplating it in the future? From my perspective, when I have to take off the head of my 951, I'll do it along with cc'ing the chambers, and resurfacing the head. If the head is off, it only makes sense to do it all. There is no mystery to the process. If you are reasonably comptent with hand tools, you can do a credible polish/port job. Check out the 944 BBS on Pelican. There is a member doing this right now with pix posted to show before, after, and tips. My answer to your question is a qualified "why not?"

You won't see huge hp gains, but you will improve volumetric efficiency hence some extra hp.

I hadn't thought of doing myself but it's not a bad idea. Thanks for the idea and the link, it helps if you know someone else is doing it.
