check out this link guys:[H]ard forum thread
This is a thread debating the choice of a 70's-80's 944 and a 911 for a perspective porsche buyer. It got interesting when the 911 owners started calling 944 owners snobs (imagine that!), and it got a little heated. The pelican parts BBS people came over and started giving a little bit of their opinions on the subjects, but some of the people that normally post to that sight had no clue what they were talking about, and it was pretty funny. I just thought I would share that all with you.
Oh yeah...This guy may want to check it out because there is some good info on his question. Later.

Ribs,
Dude...try to keep those idiots on their own site. I read some of the unadulterated crap on that site. Some of the people on that...wait MOST of the people on that site don't know ANYTHING about Porsches. It is SOOOO obvious that NONE of them really own or have owned a Porsche. They spout facts and figures that are a complete fabrication. I wouldn't even waste my time posting there if I were you.
I have owned both a 911 Carrera "25th Anniversary Edition", I was the second owner. Never should have sold that car, I digress...and I currently own a 91 S2 Cab. Both are great cars. They have different strengths and weaknesses. The 944 is a little easier to drive on a day to day basis. Power steering, power brakes, real A/C. However, the classic lines on the 911 and the unbelievable high speed handling were more to my liking. However, I think I will enjoy my S2 more after I go to a stiffer suspension. The 911 just felt more glued to the road than my S2. The other thing I liked better was the 911 didn't give as much of a sensation of speed as the 944 does. At 80mph you felt like you were doing 40mph.
I don't know why people argue over this stuff. It is strictly a matter of personal preference. I would really hate it if this arguement made to this board again. It spoils it for everyone.
