Hey Everyone. I owned a mint condition '89 944 S2 that was unfortuantely just destroyed in an auto accident. The insurance co. has declared it a total loss and is screwing me on the value of the car! If you own, or have owned, or know a friend who owns or has owned a 944 S2 Coupe (any year), it would be GREATLY appreciated if you could post or email the year, condition, mileage, and purchase price of the vehicle. If you would be willing to leave your contact info (name/email/phone) in case the insurance co. wishes to verify, that would also be helpful. You can email me at rlyfstdrvr@hotmail.com
Thanks in advance for your help!

What are they trying to stick you with? A 944S2 coupe with 110,000 miles on it is valued at $8,185 in Portland, OR by Kelly Blue Book.
You should see what the Excellence price reporst rate your car at.
What do you think it should be worth? When in doubt, consult a lawyer.

If you are a PCA member, contact the valuation commitee (sp?)and they can help you with this onfo. web page Last winter the documentation they provided helped raise my ins. settlement almost 30%. Enough in my case to make it worth buying the car back and rebuilding it. If thet isn't worth the $42 a year, I dont know what is.

Purchased my excellent condition '89 S2 w/115k several months ago for $8500. The car is probably worth nearly $2K more than that. The 924/944/968 values published in the April 2001 Excellence confirms this.

This past september I purchased an 89 S2 coupe with 56K, and a mark on the title (the original owner leased the car probably with a closed end lease. When he bought it in 94 with 32K he told citibank it had 60K - just what the contract allowed. I confirmed the actual mileage by obtaining DMV registration records.), original paint, never in an accident mint etc. for $11,500 from a dealer.
I used the CPI value guide http://www.cpivalueguide.com/ which at that time had an excellent value of $11,500 as a basis. FYI today it is $13,150.
I also used the guide published quarterly in Sports Car Market Magazine to get a value. What I and a friend buying an 85 930 with 25K have found is that the published prices are a little low here in metropolitan New York.
Also, when my Legend Coupe was stolen three years ago, the insurance company came up with an insanely low number because they batched the sedan and coupe together. I took out the yellow pages and called every dealer within 100 miles from my house. I noted the price and mileage of every Legend coupe they had for sale, and sent the insurance company my findings. The offer increased over 20%. Check your policy, I believe if you push them with the argument that you want them to find a replacement vehicle, and actually find one at a dealer you might get the difference in price.
I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me for any additional info.
Good Luck

Sorry to hear about your car. I always hate to hear that there is one less of us out there.
I purchased my 1989 S2 in December of 1999 for $9,988.00 from a used car lot, not including the credit for my trade-in car. Out the door cost, with tags, tax, trade-in, etc, came to $8,130. The car had 63,000 miles and a few “issues” such as a blown clutch, some interior cosmetic imperfections, and no service records.
Other than the known issues, the car got a thumbs up from my local Porsche mechanic. I spent about 3K replacing the clutch, having all the 60K work done (timing belts, rollers, etc), having the AC recharged, fixing the interior, etc. before the car was truly road worthy.
Feel free to contact me if you need more information.
Best of luck.

I got my 90 in excellent condition with 82k miles for $11000 this March. It had a bunch of luxo options and the seller printed up something saying its market value was really about $14300, which I can believe.
