"Hi tech coatings"
Since the oiling system has been known to cause problems in the rod bearings has anyone tried using a coating like those available from Swain-tech. www.swaintech.com.
They seem to have a "remedy" for everything from friction to detonation.

Tabor,
Couple questions if you don't mind.
1. Is the oil pan baffle an updated Porsche part or a custom baffling addition/modification. If an updated Porsche part, would it already be on my '88 Turbo S?
2. How about a brief explaination of the Acusump?
TIA,
Mike

It's past tabor's bedtime, so I'll give a go
Your 88 certainly has all the latest hardware. There are aftermarket approaches to even more baffling and sump mods. Folks like Andial, Broadfoot, and Milledge offer this.
Accusump prepressures the system so you get near 100% lubrication during startup (the cause of most engine wear in general). The problem with accusump is that it does not necessarily help with the starvation and rod bearing oiling problems these cars have. That said, plenty of racers swear by them.
Swain is one the companies you don't hear too much bad press about. Their header coating process has always heard good reviews. I also remember several mentions of a Teflon type coating that is applied to the rod bearings which *should* increase life by 2-3 times. This isn't real cheap, but compared to an engine, it may be on a prudent tactic.
Most high-end drag car engines use special coatings on many of the friction surfaces... but they have deep pockets, eh.
Good Luck!
