Default Rebuilt water pump play in pulley

This is the third pump I installed in a month. This one is a rebuilt by Geba (german company). I installed it tuesday and drove to university wednesday (500km drive).

The pump pulley had small amount of play in it before I installed it and now it seems to have a bit more play. It's very slight play the pulley is not wobbling around but you can feel the bearing has some play.

now i'm in my second year of law school and have zero time until april to change it out again. is it likely going to blow up on me and take out my belt before then? I only drive short distances here like 10kms a day and go shopping or whatever. It's not pissing out coolant yet like the 2 rebuilds I changed out.

Who knows what could happen with a unit that is already showing the symptoms you describe. I think it's time you found an OEM unit and stop chasing your tail on this thing. I know its a pain and more money, but this is one of those parts you can't afford to short yourself on.

yeah it's not about money, I was in a rush to get back to school after my rebuilds failed and I only found this one. I won't have time until april to replace it. if it lasts till then i'm going with a zim's rebuilt or new oe.

hmm, not sure how to describe the play. but the pump that I replaced that was leaking.

I replaced with new no play. In fact my the one I replaced didn't have much movement but I knew it had been in the car at least 6 years. several guys use the rebuild from Ian at 944online with not problems.
