Talking Who gets motion sickness when they drive their 944/951?

So now that I've got confidence in the mechanicals of my new 944, I'm starting to use it for what it was designed. This afternoon a took it for a little spin on Hwy 128 from Hwy 101/Cloverdale to Hwy 1 (anybody else like this one?). Anyhow, there are some nice 15 mph hairpins, 20-25 mph S-curves etc. After about 15 minutes of this I started to get ill, nauseous etc. Now, I do have a cold right now, but I never get car sick unless I'm reading and someone else is driving. Is this common? Rx dramamine?

Thumbs up

I LOVE THAT ROAD My folks have a house in Mendocino so I've been on that road many a times. I do get nauseous on that road, but it depends on the car I'm driving. It usually helps if I open the window a crack. The only cars I've rented that made me nauseous was a Buick Century and a Ford Explorer. Never in my 951.

My favorite part is the 11 mile redwood forest section. Windows down, sunroof tilted up, radio off, and revs in the 4k-redline range...music to my ears...ohh yeahh!

It's funny how it's seems like a long, long road if you're in a regular car, but in a Porsche, once you've hit HWY 1, it's like damn we're here already, gimme more road and curves!

Have fun <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

I recently completed my engine with the mods listed below, and I took my wife out for a 5 minute run on an unpopulated highway with 3rd gear corners. She told me after a few minutes that she felt queezy, so I stopped the car. She opened the door and hurled on the side of the highway =).

If a passenger is getting sick in the front the driver is not doing a "balanced job of it" if the driver is getting sick check for exhaust leaks.
Bad when it happens in a car, worse in a plane.

My 6 year old gets kinda sick in the back seat. Too short to see out and orient herself I think.

Keep the shiny side up,

I have the opposite problem. I never get sick (lots of flight-simulator games as a kid), but just about all my passengers get sick in my car. I think I'm going to have to go down to the airport and see if I can't buy some barf bags!

About a dozen or so years ago, I was visiting friends in the area. During a brief rain I noticed that the average resident there reacts to rain the way my area reacts to the first snow of the season. You guys must be spoiled from too much nice weather

I have never gotten sick while driving, however as a passenger on a track I have gotten slightly nauseaous and another 944 owner/weekend racer also gets sick as a passenger.

If you continue to get sick as a driver I suggest perhaps a SUV then you won't be tempted to take those 15MPH turns at 40+...

Talking

So that's it--it's from years of driving pickups and my land cruiser! Well, just going to have to train the body in flight school.

Martin,

My girlfriend and ex-wife would both get sick in the car if I even approached 8/10th driving! There was one mountain road I lived on with hairpin curves separated by short straightaways, with some sweepers through in. I think it was more the g-forces than the smoothness. (at least I would like to think so LOL)

Or more the changing G-forces from left to right. With my mom, all I had to do was make S-turns with my hands and she'd get seasick!

I find that I now get motion sickness in normal cars and SUVs. I think a lot of it has to do with the ride height and suspension difference between my 951 (and TA) and a normal vehicle.
