Clutch fork questions (951 vs. 944)
Is there a difference between clutch forks from different years and models.
I have three clutch fork and clutch lever shafts. One out of an 89 NA, one out of an 88 951 and one out of an 86 951. I am doing an clutch in a 951 and would like to use the clutch fork and lever with the least wear but am unclear on if there is a difference between an NA and 951.
The 89 NA and the 86 951 clutch forks have part number 931.116.835.1R
The 88 951 fork is too hard to read but looks like xxL.116.835.xx
Each is also marked with another cast number 1, 2, or 3 below the part number. Any parts experts here? Are all of these 951 clutch forks? Was there ever a difference between the 951 and 944 fork?
According to this post there potentially was??

The 944 turbo fork arms are thinner also the opening between the arms is smaller on the 944na, you need to measure them with a caliper. I have argued that you could you a 944 na fork if you remove some material from the inner side of the arms to match the size of the turbo

Yeah, my guess is that they are the same forging, and the Turbo fork is machined for a slightly larger TO bearing. So I agree that you could have an N/A, S, S2 fork machined for use in a Turbo (for the larger diam. TO bearing).
The turbo clutch assembly is little larger/heavier duty. Larger OD flywheel, clutch disc, and pressure plate, so the TO is a little heavier too. Fork is machined to fit.
