Post Wheel Cleaners - Post your experiences.

Ok, I've only used the wheel cleaner that was purple in color on the 944's cookies, it wasn't like I could tell a difference in washing those or not, they were mostly black anyway, but I now am having to wash these (alloy??) 968 wheels and they look like ****** all the time because of these highly metallic brake pads(getting kleen wheels for that). So, as I buy cleaners, I'm testing them and taking pictures, today I bought that turtlewax formula 2001 foaming wheel cleaner, I'm going to see how it does. What has been working for you guys???
-P.S. has anyone ever used that tire tint stuff? I just about shat when I saw it today that looks so, I don['t even know it's a category of it's own! I instantly thought of what it'd look like to mix a bunch of colors and have rainbow tires LOL!

Craig,

You actually have the time to go out and buy different cleaners on the market, test them, and take pictures? Whatever it is that you do for a living, please tell me so that I can send them a resume immediately!!

Two things...

1. Comsumer Reports actually makes a living testing products and reporting the results
2. I have personally found that diluted Simple Green works the best for me.

In case you're curious, I have the 17 inch 996 'twist' wheels on my car and clean them with soap and water every week and Simple Green and brushes once a month.

PS 21, it is not harsh on the finish of the wheels and still cleans the brake dust of fairly well.

And I have tried them all. (old job as a car detailer)

Thumbs up

I'll definitely second the PS21 endorsement.
I've been using it on my 968 and find it works wonders. No brushing either. Just a few spritzes of cleaner and a sponge.

I like either P21S or griots garage wheel cleaner. When I detail the car I also apply a thick coat of wax to the clean wheels. I heard that the tint stuff is hard to get off when you get tired of it (ie after 25 minutes when the RICE is done, know what I mean?)

P21S. After they're thoroughly cleaned, try a nice coat of paste wax. It makes it much easier to clean from then on. My local PCA concours guys use car wash solution, with the idea being the P21S will still attack the finish somewhat. On my daily driver I'm happy with P21S.
