Post 944 turbo clutch(what to get)

Hello,
I am in the market for a new clutch for my 88 944 turbo(k27 massflow etc)I am wondering if anyone has tried(or if it exsists) the sachs power clutch kit?According to German Parts and Restoration they sell the kit.Or shold I just go with the "cup" set up.I want something to hold up for a long time and take some abuse.

go with the cup if you can - I've heard very good things about it. I'm close to purchasing one myself.

Use the "cup" clutch for usual cars. The original 944 TS clutch has both large and small springs to dampen vibration, but the small springs are prone to breakage with need to replace the clutch. The "cup" clutch has only larger springs. You probably won't notice the potential vibration. But you will notice the lack of need to replace the clutch anytime soon.

How much power can the cup clutch take with a stock pressure plate?

Not at Paragon Products or Pelican Parts. Paragon Parts does sell a lightweight performance pressure plate, but it isn't an "HD" or "Cup" one.

Huntley racing sells the escort cup clutch kit.I am not sure if this is the same as the cup or not, they say it has a higher clamping pressure plate.Everywhere else i have investigated says the pressure plate is stock only the disk is different.Thats why I am interested in the power clutch kit, it is supposed to have higher clamping power and a slotted friction disk to dissipate heat and the pressure plate is supposedly light (aluminum)

yeah - I think you would need at least a higher clamping pressure plate. My clutch has 13k on it and its already slipping in 4th and 5th gear at 17+ psi. Thanks for the tips guys.

Stock pressure plate, cup disk, bremtek flywheel. No slippage with enough HP to nearly keep up with newer cup cars. It's good enough for 350+.

I recommend the Centerforce Dual-Friction clutch kit. The pressure plate has 90% more clamping force than stock (with no more pedal effort). That's like DOUBLE the increase other clutches claim. You won't be sorry with this one.

Also get a lightweight flywheel while you've got it apart. The improved feel and response will simply amaze you! -danno

Hi Guys,
I have the KEP aluminum pressure plate and cup disc. It is very stiff but you get used to after a while. The clamping force is great and the weight reduction was noticable when reving the engine. I also had the flywheel lightned at the same time. An important thing to check when the clutch is out is the throw out fork, as there have been failures due to stress.
