The issue as I understand it is that you can starve the rod bearings for oil, mainly #2, during long high speed corners. My home track is Brainerd International, one of the faster tracks around I think. I regularly run turn one at 130 mph and turn two at 120 mph, these are long sweepers connected by a short straight. What has worked in my club (and most others) is to run the car 1/2 quart overfull and check it after each session. This has made bearing failures almost unheard of. My advise is to run it a bit overfull and enjoy! That car will blow your mind, mine did, they are amazing stock. Then you will get the bug and next thing you know you will have sunk another $5-6k into your "driver" like me. Sure is good therapy though!

All years had baffles, but the 89 pan is shallower. You can tell the difference by looking at the bottom of the pan. the late pan has a circle in the bottom, and the cooling fins are smaller. If your thinking of upgrading you will need a dipstick and dip stick tube, and oil pickup. to accomodate the shallower design.
