Oil Cooler and Seals
Hi Everyone:
I have a 86 944 Turbo, it is acting up and needs new seals on different parts of the engine. I just had the front engine seals done and the rear cam housing done about 6 months ago.
I was told that the Oil Cooler seal is leaking into my coolant, is this easy enough to do my self and if so how?

944 FAQ and Do It Yourself Index
Link to section 7 - Oil Cooler Seal Replacement
It says it should take 45 minutes, but it took me the better part of a day. This was due to my inexperience, many runs to the hardware store for tools, and some really stubborn bolts. I also replaced the oil pressure switch and sender.
Label everything and take your time. Get a Haynes manual or a factory manual (or both). They are lifesavers.
Good Luck!

Ahmet,
Ok, you're correct, there is no exchanger within the housing, but there are still seals in there. I just replaced mine last December. If they go, the results are still the same.
