Question turbo waterpump still on!

The waterpump for the turbo ocassionally stays on too long. Usually it cuts off after about 5 mins. Now I have to stop it after 30 mins. help please

Plus a recent wobble from the steering wheel at slow speeds. I know I need front brakes, is that it or somethingelse?

thanks a lot.

I asked a similar questionbefore the new format started. look at the previous format and scroll down to the bottom third of the thread. It is either the sensor on the coolant tube going into the turbo or the relay in the fuse box.

Pump should only stay on for 30 secs. The sensor for that pump is the one that is on the hard metal pipe going to the turbo. It has a small round lead with one wire. Disconnect it and see if it works correctly, if it does then the sensor is bad and should be replaced. The pump will go on every time you run the car when the sensor is disconnected (safe mode).

Fletch is right. Unfortunately the design of the factory temp/turbo water pump sensor was not the best. I too have had the same prob... the sensor breaks VERY EASILY and looks as if it should screw right back on. How ever, that's not the case. There's a single wire that goes to the sensor and the type of plastic they use is very brittle. once it breaks... then anything the sensor is grounded to wiill set it off.... such as the head, intake manifold, etc. I've had the same prob. the pump will go forever... I suppose it's better than not at all.. Just replace the sensor and you'll be fine.. Good luck.. Doc!
