Oil Pressure Too HIGH?

Hi:
The fuel pressure on my 86 951 hits the high mark - I think it's 5, but the highest mark nevertheless - when I'm going around 60mph. I've read that it should be below that mark even at that speed. Also, after the engine has warmed the needle "flutters" around 3. It jumps up and down unless I push the clutch pedal in, when it will just sit there like a good boy.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks,
sm

I don't think I'd worry about it going high at higher RPMs. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Mine gets up there at high RPMs and it's good to go.
You may consider changing the oil pressure sending unit. If I recall it was only like 30 bucks and it's a snap to fix. Probably would only take you an hour or two. I had to remove my oil filter to get to it, FYI. Also, make sure you top off the oil after you are done because you will most likely lose some out the two different holes.

That is normal oil pressure.
What weight oil are you using?
I think the granddaddy of the tests is to rev the motor to 4k or 5k rpm in neutral and check the oil pressure...I think it should be 5 bar..not really sure on that. I think that test is in the manual that came with the car.

Read your manual. The pressure should be around 2 bar at idle and 4-4.5 bar at, i think, 4k rpm. The results do change with the change in oil weights.

Andrew:
I was reading the manual and that's why I began to question my oil pressure readings. I'm showing around 3 bar at idle and 5 bar at speed, whether it be 60mph or 100mph.
Also, I'm running Mobile 1 15w40. The PO had dino oil, but the pressure was the same. Also as I mentioned previously, the needle flutters at idle. Any more hints?
Thanks in advance,
sm
