Post 4x6 front speaker grill alternatives

Can anyone recomend a speaker grill/cover, other than stock, that will fit the 4x6 speakers in the doors?

As an interim fix I replaced one cracked/blown speaker & cover with a radio shack 4x6. The pair cost about $30, and the different grill on one door isn't very noticeable.

If anybody is interested, I am selling a set of POLK 4X6 two ways on the Rennlist classified board. Description is there. I would be willing to include the covers for my 944 with the price. $50 + USPS

I have been talking to Ian from Ians Europarts about developing some aftermarket door pockets which incorporate new speaker grilles in place of the originals. The idea being to allow a wider range of speakers to be fitted. He is looking at having some moulds made up. Personally I figure they are likely to be quite popular since the original speaker placement is so restrictive and suck so badly!

I also talked to him about a few other things that would interest a those people who are restoring or updating thier cars. I thought it would be nice to be able to get a hold of replacement stickers/decals for the engine bay etc to replace the ones that get messd up or painted over (Ie get the new look back). He is also working on some 968 style mirrors - he has sent me aset of these to put on my car - they should arrive any day.

If anyone else is interested in such parts let me know and I will give him some feedback. He seems to be one of the few places setting up to provide aftermarket support to 944 owners. Most other places seem to be primarily interested in 911 & new models. I have found it quite frustrating to see that there is a great deal of aftermarket support for 911 and so litlle for 944's (apart from the go fast parts that is).

Vic, You didn't mention your car's "vintage", but it may be important to keep in mind that the pre-85.5 cars can use just about any grill, but the later dash comes closer to the speaker and limits the height of the grill.

In the 85.5 and later i think a 1/4 in. protrusion is about all you can go.

Tarbor,

No Probs, I should prolly put my earlier comments in a new post with a more general topic than just speaker grilles
