Post slight overheat

Guys,

Last night it was about 55, and I had her out driving home from the airport.

Near home, I noticed that the temp gauge was just above the first mark, and it never gets above that, especially on a cool night like tonight. It didn't get much higher.

Today it did the same thing, and it's about 75.

I had the lower radiator hose and thermostat replaced in June I think. The right fan comes on at the appropriate times and stays on to cool the engine. Pretty sure the left fan comes on with the A/C.

Any ideas? I'd like it to be back to normal, nice and cool.

TIA
-Matt

I didn't realize the fans operated independently. Do they really, or is one of yours on the blink?

Matt,

The problem is you running it into the rev limiter. JK.

Mike had a problem a while back like that. My car has started running warm as well. He had to change a switch (ask him) of some sort and it started working fine. Is it when you are cruising along as well? If it is then that is a horse of a different color. Do the stupid things like check your antifreeze. Maybe the thermostat, I hope not.

BTW, it is raining here, imagine that, so no land speed record tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

Ok I am an idiot. The left fan doesn't come on at all. (For some reason I thought they worked seperately) It doesn't even come on when I turn the A/C on. Most likely this is the problem. Yes, it has plent of anti-freeze and no leaks. It's been smack dab in the middle between MAX and MIN for 4 months now.

Fan switch thingy maybe? Skip? Help?

I was under the impression that both fans don't always run together. I am not sure but I understood that both fans would come on when the temp came up or the A/C was turned on (in anticipation of high temps) due to the A/C.

Not sure though.

On my 87 951 - both fans ALWAYS run when the car is running. When the car gets "hot" - both fans kick into high-speed mode and just run faster.

I suspect you have either a bad fan/temperature switch, or a bad fan.
