Question Ignition/ Stereo problem

I installed my Blaupunkt tape deck back in my car last night, because of the whole "someone wanted to steal my CD player 2 days after I got it" thing.

Ok, as some of you may know, it takes a few rpm's to keep the 944 around 110 mph. I am getting that bleed over from my ignition. Is that a ground problem or what? Thanks in advance.

(I know it won't make my car go faster or handle better, but the hole in the dash screams at me every morning for an hour while I am in traffic!)

I'm sorry but I just can't speak to somebody who can legally drive that fast...

Thaddeus the envious

PS you may have to put filters here, there, and everywhere to get rid of the ignition noise...

I can.... tell us how you do that in rush hour...Polizei will love you I gues..

Now serious:

Got the in-window antenna?
Check power supplied to the amplifier.(small wire that runs in the the antenna wire harnes, to be connected to the switched output from the radio.

Got a separate Hirschmann type in the front fender?
Check ground on the antenna base and clean the antenna itself.

If this does not help, than re-do radio ground and start adding filters.

Take care

in case you don't know:
by "filters" i think these guys are talking about snap-on ferrite chokes... this is either a hollow cylinder of ferrite snapped onto the wire or a ring of ferrite through which you wrap a few turns of wire. the idea is to increase the inductance of your power supply lines to keep them from acting like antennae to receive the noise from your ignition.

did you have this same problem with your stolen cd player? was it using the same power supply and ground wires?

Thanks for the help guys. I have the in window antenna. I wondered what that extra wire was. JK.

By the way, Rheinland-Pfalz doesn't exactly have the most enforced speed limit. I have never seen a camera flash yet. They have fake ones on bridges, and sometimes try to hide one. The way you figure out where they are is to drive really, really fast everywhere you go. When you get the ticket in the mail, try to remember where you were. Easy.

Matt, I will take a pic of the speedo today of the 944 at 250Kph (do the conversion yourself, I don't like to think about it). Maybe that will make you happy. Mike refuses to ride with me when I go that fast. He said the car seems to float around the turns going that fast!? I'll try to post tonight. It will be one of those drive with your knee things... Hope it isn't windy!
