Unhappy For Sale: 88 924S Le Mans

My wife says it's either me or the car that gets the boot, so....For Sale...whimper, sniff :-(

1988 Porsche 924S Le Mans
-Black with grey/teal cloth interior
-Only 980 made (500 for US/Canada)
-Canadian model - 97,000 km (60k miles)
-100% stock, lots of receipts
-Great condition
-Factory sport suspension (adj. Koni's
-w/adj. spring perches up front, thicker
-torsion bars and stabilizers, and firmer bushings)
-Working power tilting sunroof
-360mm leather sports steering wheel
-Sport seats
-Splash protectors
-Automatic
-195/65VR15 tires
-6Jx15/7J15 Front/Rear Telephone Dial Wheels

I've done lots and lots of research on this car (thanks to those who contributed). The Le Mans models made in 88 were different from the regular 924S most notably because of the factory lowering (10mm/15mm), sport shocks/suspension, thicker anti-roll bars (21.5mm/20mm), 7JX15 rear wheels, standard power sunroof and sport seats. This model was made to celebrate Porsche's 12th outright win at Le Mans. It was lighter, offered less drag, and had lower/stiffer suspension than the 944. Unfortunately, the special paint and interior colours are less than desirable in today's market (teal wheel rims and teal pin striping on the grey interior).

These cars are very rare it seems. I've heard there were less than 15 sold in Canada, and that at least 3 are wrecked (in Ontario mostly). I have yet to hear from another North American 924S Le Mans owner, although I've seeded many newsgroups, discussion boards, PCA clubs, and websites.

The car is in Victoria, British Columbia. I'm asking $9,000US OBO. Let me know if you're interested. Also, if you have a 924S Le Mans like mine, I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!!!

Thumbs up

Glad to hear from a Le Man owner. I've been looking for info on the LeMan. I have an 87 924S that is close to LeMan spec, but not a LeMan. Did the LeMan come with different brakes? I also understood it had an LSD as well. I note the larger sway bars. Is the front control arm steel or is the whole front end different? Do you have a source of complete specs for your car? I'd really like to know the difference. It would be fun to slowly upgrade mine.
There was a guy from Calgary who put up a few posts trying to figure out if he had a LeMan. He got the car very cheap, about $6000 Cdn, so he is a lucky man indeed. I've been trying to track down that post, but no luck so far.
Good luck selling yours. I'm a bit more of a red neck I guess. Me and the dog would be moving out.

Cool

Do you know how many cars were made for the US market.

Didn't these cars come in only one color...Guards RED!

Do you have a picture to post of yours?

I may know someone who is interested.

John, I've seen pics of a LEAmns model that had a 951-esque rear valence, and a corresponding lower front air dam, and was wondering if these were factory-made parts, or items subbed out to independent companies? I am trying to get an idea of the availability of the pieces, or replications of them for my 931. Have you got any insight for me about this?

Thanks!

Hey I don't speak a lick of German but I found this site from a lead posted by Deni Durrell. It supposedly shows a white 924 Le mans.

Talking

The Le Man came in black or white. They had a teal stripe on the phone dial rim. Some of them had a script that said LeMan on the side.
