Default Rear window wiper arm

90 S2. Mine just stripped for no apparent reason.
Removed and the threads on the arm are completely gone.
Motor and electronics are fine. Must happen all the time, since every parts supplier lists this part as NLA.

Anyone out there that did a delete on the arm and wiper for track use still have it laying around for a guy like me to pick up?

Any other ideas to attach existing?

I have a spare arm from a parted out 87 S. Not sure about the threads but think they're decent. They get chewed up pretty easily.

Someone also told me to put some aluminium foil on bolt and then put the arm back on, that should give the arm enough traction... and clean out the threads properly.

I can send you a pick of the arm if you're still looking, just need to located it first.

Awesome. I could swear the arms on the front wipers have part codes on them, but this rear wiper does not. I thought I read elsewhere that the wiper system is a bit different on <99 models, but not really sure.

This one is exactly 20.5" long from end to end (not including the blade), and carries a 19.5" blade.

Looks like the original part code is 944 628 032 00.

Could use that nut cap, too.

The arms on the 89+ rear wipers are a different diameter, the earlier arms won't fit on the later cars. I'm still looking for an arm for my 1990. Can't even swap out the whole rear wiper arm assembly since the way they mount to the hatch are totally different.

reuse the old arm. Clean the aluminum residue out of the tapered splines on the motor and if you want, grease the splines and put a thin layer of epoxy on the inside diameter of the arm to form new splines (I have had good luck just tightening the nut, but the epoxy will be a bit stronger). The grease will keep the epoxy from adhering to the motor shaft.

Thx, that sounds like a workable plan.

I cleaned out the residue from between the splines....after doing that I wasn't completely unconvinced that the PO had tried the aluminum foil trick.

I thought about epoxying before, but didn't like the idea of making it permanent. But greasing the splines is a good approach (!). I'll let you know how it turns out.
