I understand 951 are extremly fast but a 944 with a LT1 that is slightly modified will have 400+Hp with gobs of torque. They run in the low 12s in the quarter mile and they are fast as hell on a road track. It is my understanding if you are going to do this conversion you should use a 951 trans axle. The clutch used in this kit is a Chevy clutch which is made to handle the power. Having already modified my 91 944S2 Cab. I will be buying a 944 with a blown motor. I have seen these for sale for as low as 500.00. The V8 kit including everything, motor too, will cost about 7000.00. So for a total of 7500.00 I will have a V8 powered, 400Hp 944. Horse power per dollar this is the best why to go. It may not be a porsche anymore but it will be fun to drive.

My question is, what would be the best mod, cheapest mod, most reliable mod: supercharger, turbocharger, or nitrous. Thanks

ahhh, the age old question.

but, of course, nitrous baby....

nitrous.

Power, speed, Power, speed. Testerones run amok. I was there once, but I've become a traditionalist. I just want my 944 NA to be perfect and mechanically restored to reliable and original condition. I don't drag or track my car and there aren't any descent roads in Florida to warrant extreme suspension or tire mods. I've been going bumper to bumper, replacing all the rubber seals, boots, gaskets and rebuilding all the injectors and making it right. I love this car (my third) and plan to keep it for a long time. With gas getting more expensive and my car getting 30 mpg highway, this isn't a bad plan, not to mention the attention it gets and the enjoyment I get driving it.

Ugh. A thread from the dead.

If I had a nickel for every thread I have clicked on from some dude with his first post bought his first (insert name of sports car) for $900 bucks, and wants to make a 500hp monster for a grand, talks about it for 2 months straight, buys a couple of parts, then tries to sell the car because it no longer runs to get to the corner store, and then tries to part it out, and ends up selling the car after he sold 3 parts off of it, and disappears off the forum to never be heard from again, I'd have a mountain of nickels I tell ya!
synical? Maybe, but I've been modding/hotrodding cars for 25 years, and I've been on sports car forums since 1994, and I've seen it all..Nut up or shut up, talk is cheap.

You see this on the old truck forums I frequent, but sadly there they generally saw off parts of the frame, hack on the roof, before throwing in the towel, leaving something that is no good to anyone. The frenzy is fed by magazines full of parts ads promising to turn a 50-yr old truck into a one with the power of a Vette and the handling of a Porsche for $1500. You can get there, for about $30k and a couple years. They are only original once...
