guys,
I want to renew my vaccuum lines (all of them) on my 951. I'd also like to change the color (borrowing the ATE blue/gold logic), to ensure that I get them all
I've been told the silicone hoses are heat resistant and won't get brittle over time like the hard plastic ones - but I am unsure as to whether or not collapse under vaccuum or bulging under boost would be a concern...
Anyone?
I am assuming that there wouldn't be any hidden issues in the changeover - connectors, etc.?

Vaccuum hoses need to be rigid.. Nylon. or very thick walled.. Reinforced at least..to prevent collapse... Pressure hoses reinforced at least.. that is the reason that braded hoses are preferred for brake lines...

My experience is that the silicon line will not collapse and expand as often mentioned. I use is in moderation because it does have a tendency to look overdone in the engine bay. If you are looking for colors to differentiate the different vacuum lines, Get the Mercedes hard lines. They come is about 6 different colors. The part numbers are
000 158 88 35 brown/clear
000 158 89 35 red/white
000 158 90 35 yellow/clear
000 158 91 35 blue/white
000 158 93 35 black/white
000 158 94 35 green/white
All cost between 1.20 ant 1.50 list per meter. They also have 2 color lines that are good for combined lines. They are something like 000 158 96 35 and 97 35.

The lines are very close to the same size, but not exact. Mercedes also has the junctions, in 2,3,4. part numbers
117 078 00 45 "X"
117 078 01 45 "Y"
117 078 03 45 "T"
601 078 02 45 small "Y"
117 078 02 81 90 deg. angle
117 078 04 81 "U"
These are priced between 1.00 and 4.50 at the Benz dealer, and I keep several of each in the tool box. They alway come in handy. Since I rebuilt my engine, the vacuum lines in my car are a bit custom.
