Post 10 Speaker system

Does anyone ahve a picture of the speaker locations of the 10 speaker system? I was curious on where they were mounted and how they looked.

Thanks,
Steve

The 10-speaker system came standard on the Turbo S in '88 and all the '89 Turbo S's, as well as many of the S2's and 968's. It's option is M490 I believe. Anyway, it is comprised of the following: A 6 1/2" w/separate tweeter in the rear and one 5 1/4" woofer w/one 3" mid behind the door pockets up front and a separate tweeter up top (above the window switch). Therefore you have 2 speakers in the rear and three speakers in the front on each side of the car= 10. This is a pretty good set-up, especially for the '80's, but the speakers are oddly shaped. I've never seen a square 6 1/2" speaker frame before- it wasn't enough for them put them in such an inaccessable location, they had to go and make them so you could ONLY buy them from Porsche unless you make some kind of adapter

I do have a picture of the door speakers, but not the rears. I've tried to post it- how do you do this- transfer a picture from your hard drive? I can definately e-mail it to you. Let me know if you want me to. Another place to look is Kevin Gross' Porsche FAQ for the 944 series. There is a write-up about the stereo set-up by Walter Spector and he has a couple of pictures I believe- at any rate, it is the best formal write-up I'm aware of...

6.5" square? Sounds like a Kicker Solobaric sub.

I've never seen anything that looked like that before. The 951 speaker is around speaker, only it has a squarish frame. It looks almost exactly like a 5 1/4" speaker w/a the square outer edge. It doesn't look like the speaker you have pictured would fit in the space anyway- Porsche really did an ******* # on everyone when they designed this stereo system and the rear speaker set-up especially. Hell, they did a lot of #'s on us everywhere
