Interesting site. It harkens back to the philosophy that filter changes are more critical than oil changes. I dunno...but I can change oil for the lifetime of the car before I spend enough to match a major rebuild. I think it boils down to an individual's "risk tolerance".

I change my oil every 5k and use a synthetic blend. So far, no problems in any of the cars I have owned re: lubrication related failures.

Any other comments out there?

Cheers!!

Castrol dino every 3k miles.
Changing to synthetic at the next change...if it leaks I'll fix the leaks!

10w30 in the winter, 20w50 in the summer (castrol dino...)

I'm in NY
I get the same oil pressures I got in the summer with 20w50...2bar *well* warmed up at idle, 2.5bar to 3bar normal warmed up.

The biggest myth out there is the snake oil they sell like Slick 50, Duralube, etc ...
They have ALL been ordered to stop making false claims on performance and engine wear prevention.
Just use the best oil you can afford, and change it often. It will keep your engine healthy as today's oils are far better than when our cars were made!
I use semi-synthetics btw, synthetics are too slippery / cause leaks. I hope to get the best of both worlds!

I change my Mobil-1 Synthetic 15W50 and the filter every 3000 miles, no exceptions. I live in VA, never had a problem, never had low oil pressure.
