Question Throttle Response Cam... worthwhile?

Anyone running one of those Throttle Response Cams on their 924S/944? I'm interested but would like some feedback from those of you who've installed and run them.

I had this on the car when I bought it, and I've test drove a few N/A's since then so I can give a vauge B&A comparison. I know it doesn't really DO anything other than change the amount you have to move your foot. It is to the accelerator as a short shift kit is to the tranny, cept the short shift can potentially harm synchros I hear and the cam is harmless as far as I can tell. I can vouche for the fact that it does make it easier not to stall the car in gentle takeoffs and stop-go rushhour traffic.

I Love my new throttle response cam, it was some of the best performance money I spent on my porsche. it doesn't make anymore HP or power, all it does it increase the throttle ratio to the pedal. I found it very worth while, but that is just me. it is also very esay to add and remove, if you don't like it you can always sell it on ebay.

Just put mine on last week. Made a very nice change. As stated before, it doen't add HP, only the "feel" of low end torque.

Here's a testimonial for you: My girlfriend who knows NOTHING about cars and didn't know I'd done this commented after driving it, "Wow, what did you do to the car? It drives so much more smoothly and responsive".
I was happy.
Oh, P.S. Don't be an idiot like I was and drop/lose the #$%#$$!@@ little retainer nut. I haven't found a replacement yet. But the cam is staying on, no problem.

Nut? I don't need no stinkin nuts!

Thumbs up

Have it on my N/A and it just allows you to achieve W/O Throttle sooner, Thats it.

It is the same as a short throw shifter. Doesnt make the car go faster, just makes it so you move your body through a shorter plane to perform an operation.

...that straight from our engineering dept.

Remove old throttle cam. Saw off protruding arm with a hacksaw. Takes all of 20 seconds. Replace cam and measure for a new throttle cable barrel end hole in the cam. Drill hole. Replace cam.

Total time - 8-10 minutes.

Works great.

Bob
