So, just got my first 944, 85.5, and the problems have already begun. My battery has been dying over night, and upon inspection i realized that the blower motor stays on at a very low speed. i removed the relay and it shuts off, so i figured it was the ccu. i just took it out of the dash, unplugged all of the wires, replaced the relay, and the blower starts back up, keys not even in the ignition. i tried using my "complimentary driving light" relay, thinking it may be the relay, and it makes no difference. Please help!

i havent checked the ignition switch. with the key out i can open and close windows, use rear defroster and climate control, wipers, and all standard things (such as head lights and interior lights), but no lights come on the dash (parking brake, etc.), the clock does not illuminate, and my radio does not come on.
also, today i did a little more investigating. i found out that the positive control pin of the blower relay (i think term.85) has 12.4v, even when the climate control unit is completely disconnected. i then check voltages at the fan resistor pack terminals and found that the last pin also had a voltage. i disconnected that pin, and the fan doesnt stay on any more, but now it only works on high.

It is likely a bad thermofan switch. Possibly a bad relay. The switch is cheap. Check out the troubleshooting/testing procedures in Clarks-Garage.com.

Edit: Sorry.... I just noticed you were talking about the ccu blower motor. Please disregard this post.

but does that mean that the resistor pack is bad? because, correct me if im wrong, but i dont think the resistor pack is supposed to be getting any power when the ignition is off, especially when the ccu isnt even connected

If all those things work with the key out, sounds like the car is staying live when it shouldn't. My switch is a bit finiky. I have the opposite issue with it on, sometimes things don't work. I just have to jiggle the switch a bit to the left, and then thing will work. Short of changing the switch, you might try playing with the switch, with the key in, to see if you can rotate it to an off position where the items you mentioned don't still work.

I would first find out why all those accessories work with the key out? Ignition switch sounds suspect to me. They are cheap to replace but no fun at all fitting your head and shoulders under the steering column.

I just had similar problems on my 968.
Do check Clarks Garage, but here is what happened with mine
1. The fan seemed to run/start sort of randomly. My wife walked into the garage one day and the fan was running. Replacing the relay fixed that.
2. A few weeks later the fan wouldn't stop running after I turned the car off. That was fixed by the thermo sensor.
Thermo sensor is cheap. Relay expensive.

If you have the normal key-on stuff working then the key is off, look for the bad key switch as has been suggested. Failing that, I'd suspect feedback from bad stereo wiring, perhaps an aftermarket wire job that crosses the constant-hot and the key-hot. If it has a stock stereo check to make sure there isn't a hack job behind it from a previous install.
If not the stereo maybe something similar like a keyless entry or alarm. Anything the PO might have hacked in.

thanks for the advice everyone and these are all good points, but i checked the voltage at always hot (yellow) and on (red) wires as i was installing my own stereo and the always hot had 12.4 and on had 0 with ignition off. also, not everything has power, just some accessories do. and again, the fan goes on with the ccu not even connected.

oh and also, i dont know if its normal for 944s or not, but sometimes, especially lately in this heat wave, the engine fan stays on for a few minutes after i turn the car off. it doesnt kill the battery, though.
