Red face Something doesn't look right!

I removed the oil fill tube to replace the o-rings and clean some of the acumulated crud (still on process on cleaning crud). I noticed what appears to be a hole in a freeze plug either in a coolant or oil passage.

Any ideas on what happened here? This is on a '86 944 turbo. I purchased this car recently and only drove it for a couple of days before I put it up for surgery (major maintenance). The car did seem to leak some oil, and was slighly low on coolant, but had no serious fluid PURGE problems.

The service manual and parts manual do not seem to list any freeze plugs for the block. Any idea on how I can find out where to obtain a new plug to replace this.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks. I wasn't quite thinking. I assumed that the hole just to the right of that was the the route for oil going to the crankcase. Upon looking at the oil fill tube/vent assembly, it is much more apparent.

My next question, what is the hole just to the right of this for?
