Post Which shop manual (s) req'd for 968 engine pull?

Are the 944 factory manuals sufficient
to pull the engine from my 968?
or do I need/should have the 968 manuals?
(have the 944's on order but every one has the 968 ones on backorder
thanks

It depends on why you are pulling the engine? If you're going inside, you'll need the 968 set. If not, the 944 set will do in a pinch.

Good Luck!

thanks Skip. Planning on pulling the engine to replace bottom end gaskets and rear main seal. Don't plan on going inside any further than that but....you never know.

still in search of 968 manuals as a backup.

Ah, now there's one of the BIG differences between the models. If by rear main, you are referring to the flywheel seal... the 968 clutch removal is much different from the 944/951... though it really only differs in the way the bell housing comes apart. It may be intuitive enough to use the 944 manuals and the online help... Like This

The lower seals/pan stuff should be all the same.

Good Luck!
