I am trying to put rear seat shoulder belts for my kids in my '87 951. There are substantial threaded holes with reinforcements in the C pillar that look like the location for the shoulder belt. If they are the proper location without the hardware it would be easy to retrofit with later 944/968 belts.
Anybody out there have the shoulder belts? If you do, can you give me a description or photo of how the belt is anchored? Where is the retractor located?
I'd appreciate any input on how to pull this off - better seat belts means more time in the porsche and less in the station wagon...

The rear shoulder belt retractors are anchored in the rear hatch area behind the side carpet out of view with the belt coming through a small slit in the carpet. The location on the pillar is where a belt loop is located. This is how it is on my 88. I can't figure out how to post a pic without having a web page so I'm unable to help out in that way. But if you pull away the side carpet you should be able to see the anchor spots. Good luck

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. In fact, I have two extra retractors. Ping me off-line and I can send you some info you'll need.

My 89 came with rear shoulder harnesses, my 87 didn't, but I ordered the brackets and am welding them in. I just installed split rear seats from a 968. These are flatter, with carpet between them. It makes it very easy to put a booster seat in for my daughter, soon she'll be big enough not to need it. I can send you all the pictures you need, just drop me an email at mjoconne@bellatlantic.net.

Does anyone have "locking" belts in the rear? If you have a car seat you probably know what these are. When you fully extend the belt, and then release it, you will hear a clicking noise from the retractor and the belt is locked. That is to say it will not pull forward at all, until you let it wind up fully.
I am asking beacuse I would like to replace the non-locking belts in my 89 S2. This would make the car seat installation much more secure.
I called a local dealer and they couldn't help me. Any ideas?
Thanks

You might try PEP (I think it stands for Performance Engineered Products)at 1800-593-8787. They advertise in Excellence, never used them, but they seem to be replacement and retrofit belt specialists.
