Default 944 Firewall flex

I addressed this a few years back but I now must deal with it.. My firewall at the clutch master cylinder is cracked and flexing.. I noted that someone makes a plate to be welded in there. Does anyone know where I can contact this person or does someone have a reasonable alternative?
Personal email = GRSGI@YAHOO.COM
Thanks
Gordon

it's certainly a defect all the 924/944/968 owners face.

the solution is more sheet metal or carbon/epoxy.

I'm in the process of making a strut tower brace and wanted to triangulate the brace and attach to the firewall as well as straight across...Would this be a bad idea?

Whoa! That is a massive over generalization !

It does happen to a small percentage of owners, not even close to "all"

This is how bad unjustified rumors get started.

Cole.. I've seen this on many 944's and now many 968's. It is normally the result of an improper clutch being installed. I've owned my 944 since 2002 and have used Pelican to a great extent rather than Rennlist (I am not a new user by any means). Look at the history of each site and you will see how widespread this problem is..

I've been around these cars for decades myself. (We got our first 924 new in 1977) Personally know several 200k+ mile cars and have had my current 951 with a heavy clutch for many years. Also worked teaching performance driving that had a fleet of 944/951 as track cars that we had to maintain.

I happens, its nowhere even close to "all" as mentioned above.

I am sure that he meant all owners "may" face.. There really is no way anyone can foresee who would fall victim.. I am surprised that the 968 would become susceptible though..
Question, I've owned 3 924's (old ones) and I never heard of this happening to a 924.. Have you?

Yeah. Obviously it hadn't been a large documented problem with 944/951 by the time they designed the 968. Porsche is pretty good at addressing known issues in design.

I'm sure age, location and type of use (heavy stop n go) can be big contributors.

...Um......So that actually makes me right That is was such a non issue that Porsche didn't see a need for a change and actually caused a problem with the 968!

i'm sure it's got plenty to do with the 968's clutch being so stiff. makes me cringe.
