Post 60-100mph times

I just did 2 runs in my '89 951 with autothority stage 2 (1 bar, 14.5 psi boost).
The average for the 2 runs was 6.1 seconds, with the first run being about 6.15 and the 2nd run being about 6.05.

For comparison's sake...someone over at Pelican posted 60-100 times for a WS6 firebird...6.6 seconds. That was a few months back.

Anybody else have any 60-100 times?

Yes I did them on the street in full daylight, no other cars were around. The road was completely straight as well.

I'll get you some of mine if you'll tell me how you did yours so the variables are limited. Stopwatch?

I did mine with a friend holding the stop watch, looking at the speedo.
Prior to do the run I made sure he could read the speedo accurately.
I started at 50mph in 3rd gear and nailed it...
i started at 50mph instead of 60 so that the turbo would be all spooled up by the time I hit 60...with an N/A that would be less of a concern but I would do it the same way just to keep it all constant..

I had 1/4 tank of gas and 45 lbs of weight savings..Passanger weighed about 140-150lbs..

im looking forward to this one, maybe next week it will be running! and putting those times to shame will certainly build up my hat size.

Given that you're doing the work yourself, yeap you deserve a build up in hat size...oh that is IF you put down better times than me and the other 951's. I expect you will with something like 300HP+(???) on tap...
Now had you paid someone to do the conversion for you.....

I'll get you guys some times, but I'm going to use my digital video-camera aimed at the dash. Start at 50mph or so in 3rd and 4th gears and do 3-runs apiece. Then I can just play back the video frame-by-frame and pick out the time-codes when the speedo needle is centered over 60 & 100mph. Should be interesting... maybe I'll just post the whole video...

Start in 3rd? Why not 2nd? Second gear is good up to about 70 MPH.

I'm thinking the time to shift from 2nd->3rd would negate any benefits gained from the faster 60-70mph times.

You may be right. I forgot that 3rd is good to well past 100 MPH. It's raining here today. If the weather clears this weekend, I may try it both ways just for grins....

3rd is good for 100mph at 6500rpm. That's pulled directly from the manual. When I did my runs I shifted at about 6k..maybe a little lower.
Well over 100mph? Not on my 951...

Hmmm.....I think I recall shifting out of third somewhere around 110-115 MPH......I'll have to double check that.

The S2 tranny is shorter than the 951 unit, but still lets you get to 60 in second.

Or you can chip your car and raise the fuel cut-off to 7k. That should let you get to 60.
