I have a 1978 924 that has sat for about 5 years. The engine will manually turn. What steps should I take before attempting to start the engine? :

Silver,
As a minimum, change your oil and filter. Make sure you fill the new filter with oil before installing it. Remove the spark plugs and put about a teaspoon of oil into each cylinder. Remove your tappet cover and coat your cam lobes and followers with assembly lube or think oil. Pull the oiler tube, replace the o ring seal and clean the tube. Make sure none of the oiling holes are plugged. After all that, ground the coil wire and turn the engine over until you see oil pressure on your gauge.
