Post 944 sighting

This morining 7:10 AM Cross County Parkway getting of Bronx River Parkway exit (Yonkers,NY) - red, good condition, but with SIDE EXHAUST(ala 427 corvette)! I have never seen side exhaust on our cars before, if you own this car - how did you do it and is it worth it? Anyone else with side exhaust, very interesting idea.

Spidey,

Go look on the 928 board, there was a pic of a 924 with a side exhaust--it is under the "Side exhaust" heading.

For what its worth I've heard the side exhaust is cool for about 20-30 minutes, and then just gives you a headache. Granted, that was on a convertable vette, but you still may want to take a long listen before doing it. Personally I love the look on the vettes and am very interested in seeing how it looks on the 944.

Hmmm... there might also be a _slight_ problem with ground clearance on speed bumps & steep driveways...

I'm not interested on doing on my car, I just thought it was different, sounded good too. There are a few 944's around my work but I usually see them parked or on the highway so I never get to talk to them, I would love to talk to the owner of the side-exhaust just to see what that kind of project entails. I can bet its totally impractical, but I'm still curious.

Well, I can't really imagine it, and I can't find the post with the pics. IMO the 944 looks to sleek to F it up with side pipes. I have however thought about a dual (rear)exhaust, It would be sexy on these cars but the spare tire well makes routing look abit difficult. Side pipes belong on old muscle cars, But A 944, not really, at least not the way I picture. When I try to imagine it my mind tends to automatically throw in the hood cutout with a huge chromed blower & supercharger throned there.

So, why don't some of you photoshop gurus give us some new renditions of a modded 944? I love seeing those posts.

I know a racer who has side exhaust on his 944 because the original exhaust path is now blocked by an aftermarket-electronic transmission oil cooler.

all that exhaust pipe stuff is all fine and well but what about this one? (if i remember correctly, the driver encountered issues with local noise ordinances and i also heard that it quiets the growl/rumble away from other drivers in line at an autox [GGR-PCA]???) and
btw : nice one tim, but you forgot the chromed naked chick mudflaps.
