EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS CANISTER
Has anyone replaced their evaporative emissions canister? Recall this is located in the driver's side front wheel well, and it is designed to absorb excess fuel vapors before venting to the atmosphere.
I notice a strong fuel smell when I get into the car after it has been sitting in the garage for several days. My first thought was that vapors were escaping from the fuel sending unit. I also considered that if the charcoal canister is saturated with gasoline (likely after 16 years) then excess fuel vapors may be coming out of the system. Since the vent is directly under the driver's side seat, some of the smell could easily make its way into the cabin.
Thanks for any feedback. If anyone has replaced the unit, what was the price? Any aftermarket options available on this one?
