The positioning cover is not coming off the lower balance shaft gear anyone have a trick to remove this gear?

 

Can you use a puller?

If the cover doesn't come off, I wonder if someone hammered it's little tang down the slot *with* the key... as opposed to the one without the key. Which would me your balanceshafts are not timed properly.

Getting any vibrations?

 

The son of the PO forgot a bolt on the WP and pulled the gear out to replace it. The tang broke off after a little prying, a puller did the trick but the washer is toast.

 

944online.com has all the parts you'd need to replace what's broken. If you know part numbers, you could also look at Sonnen. While 944online has always been great to me, they are a tad expensive.
