Anyone got an opinion on which of these is preferable? I saw a listing on eBay for a pair of the solid rubber type, claiming they superceded the hydraulic type. News to me.
Perhaps the solid type should last longer, since there is no fluid to leak out?

The way I understand it, solid rubber mounts are recommended for more heavy-duty applications such as if you are going to autocross the car.
Mabey the ones for sale are aftermarket copies. There are a couple of different companies that make them and they are usually the solid type.
Safest bet would be to go with a set of the upgraded hydraulic mounts from the 951 cars (make sure they are OEM mounts). As far as I know, these were supposed to be the improved and factory recommended part that superceded the original hydraulic mounts used on the 83' - 86' N/A cars and they are an improved design.

I don't think the hydraulic mounts are available any longer. The new solid rubber mounts are the same for all cars, left and right side, and integrate threads for the bolts in the mount, so you don't have to put nuts on the mount side.
Try Jason at Paragon for a source.

All 944 motor mounts are hydraulic (unless you're talking solid metal racing types). The older version (pre-86 Turbo) has been superceded (new "Turbo" mount), but they were/are both hydraulic.

Where's the Ebay ad?
