Arrow 968 vs 944 side window trim different?

What is the difference between the small side windows in the 968 and the 944? I have a 944 and pictures of the 968 side windows look different. They appear to have a more modern/less rubber trim.

Does anyone know?

They are different. The 944 mounts with a rubber retainer for the glass that fits over a lip in the car. The 968 mounts like a windshield with urethane, but the shape of the glass is different so you can't use the 968 glass in a 944. The overall change moves the rear quarter glass out flush on the 968, which probably moves the Cd down a little.

- and creates a pieced-together look next to the 70's era recessed drivers window and huge between-panel gaps...

Keith... trust me, the "pieced-together look" ain't all that obvious on a darker-colored 968. Besides, at least _we_ don't have to take a window out just to replace a rear speaker ....

Jim, where's my Nomex skivvies???

How can it be that much different?

I thought that the bodies for the cars were essentially the same besides the bumpers and front fenders?

I like the way the 968 windows look and want to put them in my 944 if possible.

What is a "cd?" in this application?

Jordan - It ain't gonna work. The body shells are different on the two cars, and the rear quarters are definitely different.

No offense against 968's, I'm just disappointed that Porsche didn't go the necessary length to update the door as well. I don't see how the flush quarter windows could cut the wind noise, as the rear door pillar still juts out in the wind...

The "use the same door, unchanged, from the spare parts bin" approach just missed the mark on an otherwise, more or less revised car, IMO.

Cd = coefficient (sp?) of drag.. an indication of how well or poorly air moves around the shape of the car. Flush-fit windows should produce a (very) modest improvement (lower number), thus faster top end / better fuel economy.

Jim, "Where are we going? And why am I in this handbasket?"
