I've been using the Valvoline VR1 Racing 20w-50 in my turbo track car almost exclusively for the last couple of years. I recently replaced the rod bearings after a little over 40 hours track time. The bearings were fine and probably could have gone another 20 hours of track time. I change the oil and filter after every major track event (i.e. Club Race). I may be ultra cautious, but I've already lost two motors due to the #2 rod bearing failure. It's easier to treat the bearings as a maintenance item than to rebuild the motor.
