Post Oil pressure allways between 4-5

I just bought an 88 944 Turbo S and the lowest that the oil pressure goes is about 3.5. When I am driving (on the gas at all)it is between 4-5.

Is this the normal range?

Thanks,

Dan

This sounds about right. Accept when idleing, when warm, I think it is supposed to be between 2 and 3. A new pressure relief valve may clear it up?

I just had my car serviced and asked the same question. They say the fuel and oil gauges fluctuate quite a bit, and never are 100% accurate. Mainly this occurs during hard corners and quick stops. Just check oil frequenty, and you will be fine. I have had 3 of the 944 cars and they all do the exact same thing.

I recently acquired an '87 951 that shows the same. When I first got it, oil pressure at idle was just below the 3rd mark (2-3); after changing the oil to 10W-40, it doesn't drop much below the 4th mark. I live in the Chicago area (hot summer!), 10W-40 seems to be the going recommendation...
